Meet LaKisha Watson, LPC Associate, NCC, LCDC, CEAP

Growing up in a military family, living in different communities and overseas, and later serving in the military myself gave me an early understanding of change, adaptation, culture, and identity. Before entering counseling, I also spent more than 20 years in healthcare leadership, operations, behavioral health, and employee support services, experiences that strengthened my understanding of how our environments, relationships, responsibilities, and life experiences can affect us. As a Black therapist and military veteran serving Cypress, TX and clients throughout Texas, I bring that awareness into the counseling space.

I work with adults navigating life transitions, adjustment, and identity shifts, as well as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and attachment concerns, trauma, grief, body image, and disordered eating patterns. This includes young adults and college students, Veterans, and people navigating career, relationship, or other significant life changes. I have a particular focus on women's mental health, including perimenopause, pregnancy loss, and changes in identity, relationships, roles, and body.

My approach starts with understanding the whole person, not just what brought you to counseling. We may look at your experiences, relationships, identity, culture, values, and patterns to better understand what is happening and why. From there, we work together to identify what you want to change and practical ways to support where you are now.
